Kong II

Andy Serkis: The Human Anything

Well, I suppose it makes sense for actors and directors who've worked together and experienced success together to work with each other again, and the remake of King Kong is no exception... Peter Jackson will work once again with Andy Serkis, the incredibly talented actor behind the genius of "Gollum" from Lord of the Rings, who will now be playing the character of - you guessed it - KING KONG.

He'll pretty much be doing the same thing as with LOTR; that is, having technological gadgets pinned to his face to capture all the expressions and movements to be transferred to the CG version of the giant gorilla. He'll act out all the scenes and watch the CG Kong come to life with his movements on-screen.

I learned all this by watching an 18-minute promotional "behind-the-scenes" movie offered to me by msn.com, where they interviewed Jackson and the actors in the film. I think Jackson and Serkis were the ones who really knew what it meant to be re-telling this story... it seemed like they were the ones most familiar with the challenges of making the film. The other yahoos are just eye candy...sweet, delicious eye candy.

Anyway, I felt like making this entry because I found it funny that Serkis is playing a CG character again.... You'll see him in Jackson's next film as the gelatinous blob with a broken heart. ;)
