back in O-town.... Oshawa I mean...
So for my first meal back we had one of my most HATED vegetables! RAPINI!
The other two are kale and okra. Terrible stuff.
Otherwise, the meal was delicious (meat pies and potatoes!), and I'm happy to be home.
My dad has been volunteering at a place making food baskets for the local poor, which I find both admirable and guilt-inducing, as I have not at all been contributing positively to my community in Ottawa. (New Year's resolution #1...get ass out there!)
My mum has been busy doing Christmas stuff with the ESL school she teaches at. She told me today that she was thinking about the Muslim students at the school, and whether they minded that a lot of Christmas gift-giving and stuff was going on, and if they felt it was imposed on them. A very pertinent question! I think I might go with her tomorrow to her ESL party to help out a bit. Apparently there's supposed to be a 95-year-old violinist! Sweet!
My brother is working two jobs right now, so I don't know how much I'll get to see him over the holiday. So that kinda sucks. I'll have to pester him as much as possible on Christmas day when we're going to my aunt's house in Toronto.
For Christmastime reading I have selected "The Life of Pi" which I have been meaning to read since grade 12. Apparently it's supposed to make me believe in God. 'Tis the season.
I wish I had brought my ukulele home, but alas, there was no room in the car, stuffed with three other people, our belongings, and a cat. I did bring my harmonica, however, so I'll have to practice that.
. . .
Well, I'm going to go do something else.
