children and literature
The window of my bedroom faces directly onto the tiny backyard of the house behind our new place. In that house lives a young family, and I usually hear the small children playing or shouting in the morning before they go to school. Even with the window closed, I could discern what the two little boys were talking about this morning as they played with their Fisher Price basketball net:
little boy 1: "The question is, 'to be or not to be?'"
little boy 2: "What's that?"
little boy 1: "It's an old saying!"
*a short pause as they continued to play*
little boy 1: "To be late, or not to be late?"
little boy 2: "Umm.... NOT to be late!"
The kids are probably between 5 and 7 years old... Already interpreting Shakespeare!
Must be because we live in the Glebe...

LOL!!! Omg that's priceless!! Yeah it's totally the poshness of the Glebe. They're cute kids. There seem to be quite a few of them too! Our neighbours must have been busy. ;) (or I suppose they might babysit. haha)
I need to hang out with these people.
