rEMiniscence

How fond in our hearts and minds are the memories of those events that were joyous at their occurrence, but which led to later misery?

There are those who believe all things happen for a reason, but sometimes that reason does not immediately make itself known. And so we ride out the bad, in search of the good, waiting for that day to come when we may isolate happy events in our memories without automatically linking it to the unhappy consequences that followed.

I would rather laugh about the past than forget it, but temporarily I would rather forget (or perhaps ignore) the past than to feel the pangs of bitterness, regret, and sadness which they entail. Which they currently entail - then often, then sometimes, then rarely, then never...

When you think that some things happen for a reason, it is possibly because you see the immediate lesson, or sense the immediate growth from what has occurred. So, some things happen for a reason. But some things do not. Some things happen simply to throw you for a loop, to mess up your system, to shake you to your core. They make you furious, they drive you mad, they show you yourself as you have never seen you before.

Sometimes a person can be derailed for a long time. Lost in a fog, or swimming further from shore... caught up in the past. Caught because the past is still a web, rather than single threads. When we see our memories, sometimes it is better to see the good little things rather than an unhappy string of events.

Growth does not passively happen, it must be actively pursued and achieved.

I think I may have found one of my marbles.

Everything happens for a reason. It's all part of your journey, the path your life takes you on, or the path you take your life on. :)Even if something wasn't meant to happen, even if something was hard and horrible, there is reason in that madness. There is growth and love in everything. Focus on the positive. You never lost your marbles.

Things happen. If you can learn from them, then learn.

You can't change the past with regret.
