Aix, the second coming

Well, I had a great time in Amsterdam (no, not all of it was a drug-induced haze), so I was sad to leave, but I was also tired and Jesse and Brad were pretty exhausted and sick of sharing their rooms with four girls.

I got home Monday night after an exhausting day of getting screwed over by the TGV and SNCB (French and Belgian train companies). On the bus from the train station back to Aix I realized that I had taken the same trip from Paris to Aix exactly four months previously... Things would be different this time around, since I'm done school, and there would be an entirely different atmosphere...the seasons have changed, different shops are opening up, and the city will soon be flooded with tourists. I'm also in a different frame of mind. I've only got a few more weeks in Europe left, and I know I won't see all that I'd like to, but I still want to make the best of the time I have here.
I stepped off the bus into the warm night air, and was envelopped by the sweet smell of budding lilacs.... Welcome home!
On the walk back from the bus stop, I ran into a friend who also lives in Estelan.
"Hey! I got assaulted just the other night by two guys on a motorbike just outside of residence!"
Welcome...home...

I woke up Tuesday with no real commitments.
I walked around the neighbourhood behind our residence, which I had never really explored before, and found a third-world village of high-density residences. I walked into a few shops, bought some veggies, found a laundromat, and as I was coming back to my residence........I found an incinerated vehicle sitting on the sidewalk. All the bushes and trees were charred around it. It didn't really smell too much, so it must have happened a few days before, though I don't know why it hadn't been cleared away yet. Bizarre.
I took pictures! E-mail me if you want to see them.

Since then, I've....done laundry, been drinking with friends, cleaned my room, gone shopping in Marseille, aaaaaaaaaaaaaand dyed my hair orange..... just for kicks.

Man, if I don't start doing calculus problems soon, my brain is going to rot entirely.
I promise to do interesting and productive things soon! I promise!!

MUM!
I resent the fact you assume people don't think I have a mother. You neither should take credit nor feel responsible for anything I do or say, since I should be old enough to take responsibility for myself. If I screw up, it has naught to do with ye, and if I do well, then it is because I have made a good choice (or had a bout of good luck). Nevertheless, your advice and criticism are always welcome, and as far as I'm concerned, you've done a fine job as my mum so far.

PS: I'm no good with all this HTML stuff required to publish pictures that aren't already on the internet, so I can't change the pic. I'll e-mail you one when I get the chance.

PPS: Don't knock the dino-puppet. :D

Love, Emily

Does Aix remind you of Oshawa sometimes with the burnt out cars? :)
