Emily has a good weekend

Not that I normally have bad weekends, but this one can definetly be classified as good.

On Saturday I went to my uncle's house in Mississauga for a BBQ... I felt slightly out of place since my uncle and his wife's friends are in that late thirties stage of starting their careers and getting married and such. Unfortunately I didn't have too much to talk about with them. Plus my jaw still hurt from having my wisdom teethies yanked out earlier that week. But, it was great to see my uncle and aunt. :)

That night we stopped by at another of my uncles' houses in Toronto. My 17-year old cousin was getting ready to go to her friend's house for the night. She explained that her friend's mom was driving them both to Detroit the next day...to see the Wu-Tang Clan...because the mom knows Method Man... ahahahahahaha. Awesome.

After that my parents dropped me off at Church and Wellesley so I could meet up with REHANAAAAA!!!! We went to this bar called Crews & Tango on Church Street. A friend of her sister's was celebrating his birthday so there were a whole bunch of their friends. There was a drag show at the front part of the bar but we mostly stayed in the smaller room at the back and danced the night away. Rehana introduced me to some of the people there. One of them was Mike Layton - Jack Layton's son... I didn't really talk to him, because, well, you can't hear anything in a bar... aaand I had not much to say... we'll blame it on the sore jaw again...
The great thing about gay bars is that everybody seems to be having so much more fun than at regular bars. And the music is more varied...
Anyway, it was fun and we stayed until closing time, then went to Rehana's sisters place and crashed.

In the morning Rehana and I went to the Global Village at the AIDS conference. Met some people, picked up a few flyers and a free t-shirt! Then we went out for lunch (I had a GREAT Focaccia sandwich) and I hopped on the GO train back to Oshawa.

Once I got home I hopped in the shower and my mum and I went to the Colombian family's house for a visit. We ate these fried cornmeal things called Arepas and colombian hot chocolate! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM They also gave me a present for helping out with their kids: the book "Doce Cuentos Peregrinos" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Woo!

I was pretty beat by the time I got home, so I crashed at 9:30 and slept soundly until about 1am... my sleep was then filled with nightmares... but, it technically wasn't the weekend anymore. :)
